Challenge

Integrated Solar Control Without Sacrificing Transparency

The south-facing facade receives intense solar exposure throughout the day, creating potential issues with heat gain and occupant glare. The design required maintaining expansive transparent glazing while significantly improving solar performance and energy efficiency. .

Project

8495 Sunset Blvd | Challenge Three

Process

01

Integrated Okalux OKASOLAR F insulating glass units at the upper levels.

02

Micro-louvers sealed within the insulated glass cavity to redirect daylight deeper into the building, reduce glare, and minimize solar heat gain while maintaining outward transparency.

03

Coordinated specialty glazing with the curtain wall system to maintain a consistent exterior appearance while improving occupant comfort.

Result

The facade delivers natural daylight while reducing glare and limiting solar heat gain, to increase energy efficieny. Integrated solar-control glazing improves energy performance without the need for exterior shading devices, preserving the building's clean architectural expression.
